Colin Houston BVM&S CertSAS MRCVS.
Colin graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1999 and spent the next five years working in general practice in Cumbria, Australia and New Zealand. During this period he developed an interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.
Upon returning to the U.K. Colin commenced a surgical internship at a busy surgical referral centre in Norfolk, where he obtained extensive experience of all aspects of small animal orthopaedics, spinal and soft tissue surgery.
During this time he obtained by examination the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons certificate in small animal surgery.
After five enjoyable years in Norfolk, Colin decided to return to the north of England and spent a year with a referral orthopaedic practice in the northwest, before settling at Bay Referrals.
While Colin remains focused on all aspects of orthopaedics, spinal disease and soft tissue surgery, his main areas of interest are the management of cruciate disease, fracture management and joint fusion.
Colin is married to Catherine who is also a veterinary surgeon at Bay Vets, mainly based at the Milnthorpe Surgery. They have two young boys with seemingly endless energy and a new baby girl. Out of work Colin enjoys spending time in the hills with his family. He is currently training for the Circuit Of Ben Nevis Mountain Bike Race, which he hopes to complete on his ‘vintage’ mountain bike.
